UoA Recreation Centre Plaza
The University of Auckland’s new Recreation and Wellness Centre was recently completed - including a LandLAB designed plaza space. A topographical and infrastructural response to a challenging set of technical and functional design requirements has established a flexible plaza and habitable roofscape above subterranean aquatic facilities.
Ōkahukura - Masonic Park, Tauranga
Masonic Park, the first project delivered as part of Tauranga’s Te Manawataki o Te Papa civic precinct, was recently completed and opened. This project transforms a former under utilised space and carpark into a key part a new new east-west, city to sea transect and axis that connects the new cultural precinct to the Tauranga Moana Waterfront.
Tauranga Moana Waterfront - Stage 001
Stage 001 (North) of the Tauranga Moana Waterfront was recently completed and opened. The northern park space delivers the first portion of the new Tauranga Waterfront Promenade and Sea Wall and a flexible lawn events space designed to support new recreational opportunities and events.
Putahi Whakatetonga - South Frame Public Realm
LandLAB are pleased to have won the Civic + Urban Design Category at the 2024 New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects Awards.
The jury said…‘Putahi Whakatetonga is a transformative urban regeneration project. Seven city blocks have been transformed into a vibrant mixed-use precinct. The project delivers an authentic, contemporary, and distinctly urban precinct that combines innovative ecologies, landscape architecture and urbanism to reveal its past, provide a catalyst for its future, and seed a new creative mixed-use community.’

LandLAB Melbourne studio opening
LandLAB is delighted to announce the opening of our new studio in Naarm - Melbourne. As we celebrate a decade of successful practice in Aotearoa - New Zealand, we are excited about embracing new adventures and building new relationships in Australia.
Design Director Henry Crothers says, ‘We are excited to be able to build on existing relationships, test ourselves in a new market and bring together synergies between practising in New Zealand and Australia which will enhance our offering in both places’.

Te Ara Tukutuku
We are thrilled to be leading the ‘Toi Waihanga’ consortium that will be collaborating with mana whenua and Eke Panuku to transform the Wynyard Headland into Te Ara Tukutuku a new 5 ha waters edge public space incorporating Wynyard Wharf and future development sites.
Monocle Design Awards 2022
Pleased to have been acknowledge in Monocle Magazine 2022 Design Awards for our recently completed Tank Park project on the Tāmaki Makaurau waterfront for Eke Panuku_ The award acknowledges the innovative adaptive re-use of the found industrial archaeology on the site which has been recovered and repurposed as social infrastructure and interactive play components. Revealing the sites DNA and weaving its marine and industrial character into the programming of a new multi-functional park and event space was central to our approach.
Sirius Waterfront Winner
LandLAB has won an international competition to develop an urban master plan and public realm concept for the 7.5km long Imeretinskaya Embankment adjacent the 2014 Olympic site in Sochi, Russia.
