Our philosophy integrates a landscape-led approach (Land) with a creative and rigorous design process (LAB). We see landscape and ecology as a models for both form and process.

PROCESS

Tukanga

We believe in a landscape led process, and lead projects with expertise, curiosity and tenacity. We operate in a collaborative ecosystem with our project clients, communities, technical consultants and other creative disciplines. We encourage authenticity, innovation, and environmental responsibility. We are adept at engagement, co-design and navigating through complex processes as translators, facilitators and integrators. We think in systems, we think collaboratively and we think regeneratively.

Our methodology - Engage + Explore + Evolve + Effect - is creative, iterative and tailored to the requirements of each project and its participants.

Engage - we begin by listening to the projects needs and aspirations. We enquire deeply - listening and learning to understand the project’s processes, context, requirements and key outcomes.

Explore - we explore, test and refine the vision, design principles and develop the key design moves that will inform the projects design direction. We develop options and interrogate these against the vision to define a preferred option.

Evolve - we develop and refine the through the iterative exploration of options and design concepts to invite discussion and inspiring the holistic exploration of the project’s potential.

Effect - we explore and develop all components of the project through to a Detailed Design stage. We consider design, sustainability, materiality and key features so that they deliver on the projects vision and design intent.
